Sustainability at Camp Moose Trail
At Camp Moose Trail, our core philosophy is simple: Maximum Comfort, Minimal Impact. We are surrounded by six stunning parks and the Rocky Mountains near Golden, BC. We know the wilderness is not just our backdrop. It is our home, our inspiration, and our responsibility.
We are passionate about nature and connection. Our vision has always been to create a magical place for wilderness lovers in BC where people can escape, connect, and recharge while treading lightly on the earth. We care about the details, and that includes being as eco-friendly as possible in every part of our operations.
Built with Purpose and Respect
Camp Moose Trail is a true labour of love. Owner and operator Mike hand-built the camp with sustainability in mind from the very first day. We believe eco-conscious camping starts with how a space is constructed.
When building our camp, we prioritized reclaimed and locally sourced materials. Every log used in our structures was either a tree that had to be taken down during necessary clearing or was hauled in from slash piles left behind on nearby logging roads. By repurposing this wood, we gave it a second life and reduced the need for new timber. Even the rocks in our hand-built, wood-burning pizza oven were individually hand-selected and placed. This ensures our amenities fit right into the natural environment.
Off-Grid Comfort and Renewable Energy
We prove that you do not need to sacrifice comfort to be eco-friendly. Our 10 cozy trapper tents and communal amenities are designed to work with nature. We use renewable resources to keep you warm and comfortable year-round.
All of our tents are heated using highly efficient wood-burning camp stoves. Our communal cedar hot tub and hand-built sauna are also entirely wood-fired. By relying on responsibly sourced firewood rather than electricity or fossil fuels, we maintain an authentic, off-grid experience. This lowers our carbon footprint while providing the ultimate in warmth and relaxation.
Protecting Our Wild Spaces
With trails that leave right from your tent, we are a paradise for guests who seek wild places. To protect these spaces, we operate with strict eco-friendly and sustainable practices.
We encourage all our guests to embrace Leave No Trace principles during their stay and while exploring the surrounding parks in Golden, BC. We provide a fully equipped communal kitchen tent with reusable plates, cups, and cutlery to eliminate single-use plastics and minimize waste. By offering an all-inclusive model where everything you need is provided, we reduce the amount of gear and packaging our guests need to bring. This further minimizes the environmental impact of your visit.
A Community of Conservation
Sustainability is a shared journey. Whether you are joining us for a romantic getaway, a family vacation, or a total camp takeover for a corporate retreat, we invite you to be part of our eco-conscious community.
We love to share the story of this magical space. When you are out at camp, please feel free to ask Mike about the construction process, our daily eco-friendly practices, or the local wildlife. By helping our guests connect with the natural world, we hope to inspire a lasting appreciation for the environment that extends far beyond your stay at Camp Moose Trail.
Had an incredible experience at Camp Moose Trail! The location is perfect – right in the forest, away from all the noise. You really don’t have to bring anything except for a towel, clothes, and food. You’ll have everything right there. The communal fire pit and kitchen provides a one of a kind experience! And on top of that – the owner is an amazing person who is always there to help with any questions or issues one might have.
