At Camp Moose Trail, we hold a belief that our natural environment is the most precious resource we possess. Nestled within the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia, our camp is not merely a place for visitors to stay; rather, it serves as an experiment in the preservation of the wild places.
Addressing the Climate Crisis
The climate crisis impacts every facet of our operations. In response, we are dedicated to reducing our carbon emissions by reimagining the way we accommodate our guests. As we evolve as a provider of lodging, we aspire to set a standard for others in the pursuit of sustainability, grounded in a set of guiding principles.
Deep Respect for Nature
First and foremost, we advocate for a deep respect for nature. Our commitment to protecting the natural ecosystems surrounding us drives us to promote responsible accommodation practices. We encourage our guests to engage with the environment thoughtfully, minimizing their impact while enhancing their connection to wild space.
Embracing Sustainable Practices
In our journey for eco-friendly operations, we strive to integrate sustainable practices into our daily routines. This includes implementing waste reduction and recycling programs. We are particularly proud of our compost initiative, which transforms organic materials into enriching compost for our grounds, further minimizing waste. We have managed to eliminate all on-site wastewater by introducing water reuse practices. Our facilities are thoughtfully designed with energy efficiency and environmental consciousness in mind, underscoring our dedication to reducing our ecological footprint.
Conservation Efforts
Additionally, we actively participate in conservation efforts aimed at supporting local wildlife and preserving their habitats. Camp Moose Trail is a sanctuary for indigenous flora and fauna, and we take pride in educating our guests about biodiversity and the crucial role they can play in its protection.
Fostering Community
Community engagement is another cornerstone of our ethos. We believe in cultivating a strong sense of community among our guests and local residents. By collaborating with local organizations, we promote sustainability initiatives and participate in activities that celebrate and protect our unique environment.
Continuous Improvement
We recognize that sustainability is not a destination but a continual journey. We regularly evaluate our practices, seeking innovative opportunities to enhance our environmental initiatives. Guest feedback is invaluable in our endeavor to grow and refine our sustainability efforts.
Invitation to Join Us
At Camp Moose Trail, we warmly welcome you to join us in our commitment to sustainability. Together, we can explore the beauty of British Columbia while working to ensure it remains pristine for future generations to enjoy. Let us create lasting memories while honoring the land that holds such an important place in our hearts

Discover some awesome things to do while you’re there! If you love recreating in the mountains, you’ll love the diverse range of activities on offer here. We choose to build Camp Moose Trail in Golden because of its unique location at the heart of six national parks; Yoho, Glacier, Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, and Mount Revelstoke. We also love that while Golden is located in BC, it’s near the Alberta border making it only a 3-hour drive from Calgary.
