About Us

Camp Moose Trail has been a labor of love for owner-operator Mike.  After spending many years in a career that wasn't fulfilling for him, and taking him away from his family for weeks at a time, he decided in 2018 that he had enough and wanted to build something that he was proud of.

In 2019 he built Camp Moose Trail 1.0, which was a pilot project to see what worked, if guests we into it, and areas for improvement.

2020 brought the onset of COVID and he was unable to open the camp with good conscience,  He used that time to expand the camp and grow it, and improve the amenities.

Finally after many months of uncertainty, Camp Moose Trail, as we know it today, was opened Canada Day weekend of 2021!

Family is at the core of Camp Moose Trail.  Mike's young son Harry spent the summer of 2020 out at the camp with his dad helping where he could and spending lots of time in the woods learning lots of lessons.  He is very proud of the work he contributed to the camp!

Any email or booking correspondance is likely with Lyndsay, Mike's wife of many years!  She is also a full-time massage therapist.

Finally WInston, the official greeter.  Winston is a 10 year old golden retriever, living his best days out in Golden greeting guests and cleaning up any crumbs that may have fallen on the ground.

What you may not know is, everything was pretty much built by hand, by Mike and a crew of helpers over the years.  Every log you see was either a tree that was taken down during clearing, or hauled in from a slash pile from up a nearby logging road.  Every rock in the pizza oven was hand selected (possibly even by Mike's young son Harry).  Please feel free to ask any questions about the construction of CMT when you're out at camp, Mike has great stories about the construction process!

"This place is amazing and the photos don' do it justice.  This place has been my favorite stop while travelling in Canada.  Hot tub is amazing, and having drinks around the fire and meeting new people was a lot of fun.  Will be back!"

"The perfect place to stay to explore Golden or just have a family getaway.  The camp is impressively built by the host, we especially loved the well equipped kitchen.  Thank you!"
